Facebook Expands to 50 Gender Options, Where Will This Lead?

From http://el-paso.ucg.org/ or call 1-888-886-8632. Please follow this site here.

Facebook officials have announced that it is expanding its gender description options to 50 different choices after consulting with a group of leading lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy organizations.
This represents a major new development in the ongoing controversy regarding the cultural ramifications of what in the past was considered deviant sexuality. But it is only a beginnng. It will likely cause a ripple effect into many other areas of life—job applications, loan papers, sports, legislation, court cases to name a few.
Will applications need to replace the simple M/F choice to “see attached schedule?” What about public restrooms? Obviously, it won't be possible to expand to 50 different restrooms. So we are likely to see the traditional male or female restrooms with unisex restrooms, a trend that has already begun and may be legally mandated.
What about dressing rooms at swimming pools, schools and professional sports? How will parents feel about having their daughters in dressing rooms and showers where they know others are present who are sexually attracted to females despite their female anatomy? Or will at some point will the fact that sexuality is being redefined by sexual preference mean that children and adults will share the same dressing room and shower with the anatomy of the opposite sex? Are we really ready for that?
The question of how professional athletes will deal with these dilemmas is already on the radar with the public announcement from draft prospect Michael Sam that he is gay, which has been the main topic of sports talk shows. Everyone is careful to be political correct in their comments lest they be branded as homophobic and lose their job or be suspended from their team. It remains to be seen how this will go when the season begins.
This is only the tip of the iceberg of an ongoing trend that is leading us into uncharted waters. Sexual diversity is nothing new. It has been around for a long time. The “don't ask, don't tell” approach resulted in a “what they don't know won't hurt them” situation regarding the reactions of others with whom transgender individuals came in contact. But the growing trend of such individuals “coming out of the closet” seeking full acceptance and approval has posed a relatively new challenge in our culture.
The Bible clearly reveals that God created humankind male and female (Genesis 1:27). Since that time heredity and/or environment has created a virtual “Heinz variety” of sexual identities. Where it will lead, God only knows. Many, especially in older generations are asking, “What is this world coming to?”

What should Christians think about gender identity issues?

From http://el-paso.ucg.org/ or call 1-888-886-8632. Please follow this site here.

“Transgender” is an umbrella term for the many ways people experience a mismatch between their biological sex and their feelings of sexual identity. This is a complex and wide-ranging subject—physically, mentally and spiritually—that can’t be explained thoroughly in a short response. But there are some biblical principles to keep in mind.

What does the Bible say?

“God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). Two distinct genders is a fundamental and beautiful aspect of God’s creation. One’s chromosomes, hormones and reproductive organs positively identify gender in most cases. (However, there are rare cases of physiological disorders and syndromes that occur during fetal development that create confusion in gender identity.)  It’s impossible to change one’s true identity with surgery and hormone injections (although surgery can be beneficial in some cases, such as when a person is born with both male and female sexual organs).
God’s will is for each person to appreciate and embrace his or her gender and to glorify God as a male or as a female. From observing God’s creation, He obviously loves variety, and He created human males and females to have a great variety of personalities, interests, aptitudes, talents, appearances, voices, body shapes, etc.
In the Bible, God forbids all sexual relations except those that are between a husband and wife who are married to each other. That rules out all immoral heterosexual acts (adultery and fornication) and homosexual acts (Leviticus 20:10-21; Romans 1:22-32; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 1 Timothy 1:8-11). This is not the same subject as gender identity, but it often is related.
The Bible also forbids cross-dressing, which implies that God is highly displeased with deliberate efforts to be “transgender.” Deuteronomy 22:5 says, “A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman’s garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God.” Although what is considered menswear and womenswear is determined by each culture, this scripture is forbidding deliberate attempts to appear as one of the opposite sex. And 1 Corinthians 11:4-15 tells us that it is a shame for a woman’s hair to be short like a man’s and for a man’s hair to be long like a woman’s.
The overall point is this: God wants His people to do their best to avoid any confusion over gender identity.
If a person is feeling confusion and inner conflicts over their gender identity, that person should seek wise, loving, encouraging counsel and guidance with the goal of mental, emotional and spiritual healing. If the conflict is serious enough to seek the help of a psychotherapist, one should choose one who respects and believes the Bible. Even more valuable is a close relationship with God.
The ultimate source of all evil and destructive influences is Satan the devil and the demons. Satan is “the ruler of this world” and the “god of this age” who “deceives the whole world” (John 12:31; John 14:30; John 16:11; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; Revelation 12:9). The world is in spiritual darkness because “the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6:12; 1 John 5:19). Significantly, when Adam and Eve succumbed to Satan’s deception, one of the immediate effects was their shame over their sexuality.
Satan hates God and hates all things godly, including the healthy sexuality of human beings that fosters marital love and produces children who can eventually be in God’s eternal Family. The marriage relationship between a man and a woman ultimately pictures the relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. This is a powerful concept to consider.
The Bible clearly differentiates between temptations to sin and the committing of sins (James 1:12-16). To have “feelings” of confusion and to experience temptations to adopt a lifestyle of the opposite sex (either temporarily or permanently) is not sinful. But when one gives in to temptation and does anything contrary to God’s will, it is sinful.
God’s people must follow the example of God to “hate sin but love the sinners.” While He was here on earth, Jesus was the perfect role model who never condoned sin but showed mercy and compassion toward everyone. He was especially loving toward anyone who was humble and teachable—anyone who was willing to learn and live by His teachings.
We must be warm and welcoming to anyone whom God is calling to be His son or daughter, anyone who is sincerely seeking to learn and obey God’s truth (John 6:44; John 6:63; Matthew 11:28-30; Romans 14:1). All of us have been guilty of many sins and we must extend grace to others—no matter what type of sin—as God has extended grace to us. And we should absolutely avoid gossip.
For anyone who has been confused about his or her sexual identity, we will guide the person to embrace and nurture the gender with which he or she was born. If the person has already done things that are irreversible, such as going through a sex change operation, we must not condemn or shun him. We will try to help the person figure out how to best live a life pleasing to God. We will also teach how to set the best possible example for others.

Thank you my brothers and sisters for providing a clear cut way to handle this issue of transgender. They use this term to justify homosexual behavior often saying he or she cannot help themselves if they were born the wrong sex.
The advice you gave about seeking counseling both from God and from humans if necessary is wise counsel. The discussion about the chromosomes determining sex when the person is born with both sexes was very informative.
Thank you also for drawing my attention to the Word of God stated in Deuteronomy 22:5 about cross dressing. I praise God and thank Him for the work He is doing in the midst of my brothers and sisters and they took the time to share this knowledge with me.
Thank you Holy God and may your Kingdom come.
    Amen

What did that strange message mean for the king of Babylon long ago? What should it mean for you today?

    Transcript

[Darris] Intoxicated by the splendor in the king’s palace, the lords and ladies present had no idea of the danger of the moment. Out of nowhere the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and began writing on the wall of the room.
The king and all present became so frightened they broke out in sweat and staggered at the sight of a floating hand scratching out a coded message on the plastered wall. When finished, the words, “MENE MENE TEKEL UPHARSIN” stood in stark relief, before the eyes of the astonished gathering.
What was this strange message? What did it mean for the king of Babylon? What does it mean for our world today?
Join us on Beyond Today as we present: “Kingdoms at War: The Handwriting on the Wall.”
[Announcer] Join our host, Darris McNeely on Beyond Today !
[Darris] Look around at today’s world. Let me ask you this question: Are we, are you, big enough, great enough to rise to the challenge of our time?
Let’s look at what is facing the nations today.
The Middle East is aflame. One nation, Iran, seeks to develop nuclear weapons. Their goal will continue despite a recent treaty concluded in Vienna, Austria stating that “Iran’s nuclear program will be exclusively peaceful” and that “Iran will under no circumstances seek, develop, or acquire nuclear weapons.”
Now Iran is the same nation whose leaders incite its people to chant “death to Israel” and “death to America.” Its fundamentalist Shiite Muslim leadership sponsors terrorism throughout the Middle East; in Syria, Iraq and Yemen. No leader in the Middle East believes this recent treaty agreement with Iran will lessen the tensions of the region. Clear thinking leaders believe Iran will continue plans to develop a weapon of mass destruction. When they get it, they will use it to further their apocalyptic mission. It’s not a matter of if but when.
This goes along with what we’ve been discussing in this series of Beyond Today programs, Kingdoms at War . In part one , we saw that there are spiritual powers at work in our world today—things happening in the spirit realm affect what happens in our physical realm.
The rulers of Iran are fundamentalist Muslims who seek to establish Islamic rule in the entire world. World leaders led by America have unfortunately appeased this totalitarian regime.
Let’s look at another region. Europe has had a very rough period. The European Union has faltered in its plan to grow an ever closer utopian form of union among the nations of the European peninsula—a region that has seen so much war and strife in the last century. The goal of peace through economic and social cooperation has fallen upon a critical moment with the economic instability of Greece. EU leadership will be forced to correct this flaw, if not now, then at some point in the future.
What these two current world events mean can be understood by the story of the handwriting on the wall. Just as God was moving among the nations of Daniel’s day—rearranging the power structure then—so He is today, moving to accomplish His purpose in history among the nations. There is a greater spiritual purpose behind today’s headlines. That’s what we are saying in this series of Kingdoms at War  .
I said earlier that we live in big times with large challenges. Again I have to ask, are we big enough people to rise to the challenge of the day? Are we big enough people to see the handwriting on the wall of our times and listen to its meaning? We live in very serious times. We have to be able to read the handwriting on our own wall. Just like Daniel did on that night in Babylon so long ago.
Let’s go back to the story I opened with. It’s told in the biblical book of Daniel. We have been progressing through a series of programs based on this most fascinating of biblical prophecies. The book of Daniel, in your Bible, is a story of kingdoms at war during one of the most crucial periods of all world history. The prophet Daniel lived at a moment of great change and upheaval in the world of his time. Daniel was an intelligent Israelite taken captive to Babylon when Jerusalem fell in the year 586 B.C. He found himself promoted to a key role in the court of King Nebuchadnezzar II, the king of Babylon and the Chaldean Empire that spread itself across the Middle East.
Daniel spent his adult life working in the courts of power of two kingdoms, the kingdom of Babylon and the kingdom of Persia. And God gave Daniel the gift of understanding to interpret dreams and prophecies and even the strangest of sights, the handwriting of a floating hand that appeared on the banquet room of Belshazzar the last Babylonian king. When we look at the events of that night, we can see the example of God’s gift to this devout and righteous prophet, a man who stood before great kings and witnessed to the glory and majesty of the God of Heaven.
Daniel’s example shows us what kind of person it takes to rise to the challenge of great moments in history and be an example of the power of the Spirit of God moving, not only upon the face of the earth, but in the noble life of one who humbly seeks to do God’s will.
In Daniel 5, we see the story. A hand appeared from nowhere and wrote on the wall of the king’s dining room in front of the hundreds of drunken guests. When the king saw this “…his face turned pale with fright. His knees knocked together in fear and his legs gave way beneath him.” (Daniel 5:6 NLT)
The king cried out, “whoever reads this writing, and tells me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around his neck and he will be the third ruler in the kingdom” (Daniel 5:6-7).
None of his trusted counselors were able to interpret the handwriting on the wall. In walked his queen and said to him, “There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and King Nebuchadnezzar your father—made him chief of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans and soothsayers. Inasmuch as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel…now let Daniel be called, and he will give the interpretation” (Daniel 5:11-12).
Daniel was called in. He was offered the great reward of honor, with wealth and status for interpreting the handwriting. What Belshazzar did not understand was that Daniel was not a man who could be flattered or influenced by these symbols of power. Daniel had stood before this king’s father, Nebuchadnezzar. Daniel had actually warned that king, who was a powerful and a temperamental dictator who could have disposed of Daniel’s life with just a wave of his hand—that if he did not humble himself before the God of Heaven, he would become like an ignorant beast of the field reduced to eating grass with the barest scraps of clothing on his body. That did happen. And Belshazzar knew that it did. But Belshazzar had not learned the lesson.
So Daniel told him, “You have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. [You] brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. You have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified” (Daniel 5:23).
This king, Belshazzar, this king was not big enough for the challenging times of his day. At that moment, the Persian Empire was at the gates of the Babylonian Empire. Persia, was now on the verge of replacing Babylon on the top rung of the ladder of nations. All this had been foretold by God through the prophet Isaiah, about 150 years earlier. Daniel was at this moment announcing to the Babylonian king that the God of Heaven was in charge of history and He was setting a new kingdom at the head of all the others.
What did the handwriting on the wall say? What should we learn from its message? We’ll come back to that in a moment. But first, let me tell about a free offer to help you better understand Bible prophecy.

The mysterious handwriting on the wall—what did it say to the Babylonian king that night long ago? More important, what is the message we need to take with us today? We are living in a period of great change in today’s world. Nations and their power structures are realigning. Weaknesses are being exposed. Cultural shifts are taking place that are shocking to many. Where is it leading and what does it mean?
Let’s read on in Daniel’s book and understand. Belshazzar, king of Babylon in a night of drunken revelry had ordered the gold and silver vessels once used for a holy purpose in God’s Temple in Jerusalem brought into the room. These cups and bowls were then used as props in a mockery and affront to God. It was an action that went too far. Even God has a point with a culture when enough is enough.
Out of the darkness appeared a hand from God that wrote the following words across the wall of the banquet room:
    MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
Daniel turned to the king and gave the interpretation of the inscription this way.
MENE” he said means, “God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it.
TEKEL: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting.”
PERES:”—which is a singular form of the same word upharsin—“Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”
It was a listing of monetary units. Money. God was numbering, weighing and dividing out units of money in a graphic display of displeasure with the great nation of the time. Babylon, the great city and kingdom, a fierce and violent nation had been examined by God and found unworthy of continuing in power. It was being invaded and given to a new kingdom, that of the Medes and the Persians.
Why was money used here as a symbol of examination and judgment? It was very appropriate. Babylon was a wealthy nation that traded across the world of its day. Wealth and money flowed into the city making it the center of international finance. Babylon was a city that saw money flow into it like great gushing streams of water. The prophet Jeremiah had said that it was a people “who dwell by many waters, abundant in treasure” (Jeremiah 51:13). Babylon, the temples of the cities served as both a place of religious worship to the many gods but also it was where the money centers took place, the financial institutions of the time. The priests were the bankers and the financial managers. Kings came and went, but in Babylon the priests controlled the purse strings and through religion they held control on the people. It was a singular arrangement that Scripture shows will be important for end time Bible prophecy.
Back to the story in Daniel though. Using the most elemental component of the Babylonian society, money, wealth, gold, and silver, God was showing the nation was bankrupt when it came to morals, culture, religion and government. In God’s measure of values, Babylon’s accounts had run dry. Spiritually they were done. In God’s system of righteous judgment, Babylon’s day in the sun was over.
Here is another lesson. We read in the New Testament that many of Jesus Christ’s parables deal with the use of money, or talents, or shekels to describe deep spiritual principles and lessons. A nobleman goes into a far country to receive a kingdom and he leaves “ten minas” or ten units of currency for his servants to use and to develop and grow. He returns and the nobleman takes account to see if the investment has grown (Luke 19:12-15). Christ is teaching in that parable about growth in spiritual character by using a unit of money exchange. He does the same in other parables such as a “pearl of great price” or by buying a field to illustrate the Kingdom of God. In these parables, Jesus is teaching deep eternal truths through the units of money. How we value and use money and wealth, the things and the stuff of this life reflect our deepest spiritual character and values.
God judges us on these matters. Babylon was finished as a world power. Its influence would continue to flow however, through history and remains very much with us today. But in the moment of Daniel, there was a change of power. Daniel on that night, revealed to the king God’s message of judgement. And even in that moment the king did not understand. Belshazzar commanded Daniel to be clothed with purple, the symbol of royalty, and a chain of gold to be put around his neck and he proclaimed Daniel to be a third ruler in the kingdom (Daniel 5:29). It was all an empty gesture by a king who was completely out of touch with reality.
That very night, the king was killed and the Medo-Persian Empire came in. Babylon fell.
So I ask again, can we read the handwriting on the wall for our times? Can we discern what is happening among the nations of today’s world and see God’s hand moving through history even today? Nations and regions of the world are in turmoil. Danger is on the horizon. The cultural shifts occurring in America and other parts of the world give us great concern. We are standing at the crossroads of a rather confusing and sometimes chaotic landscape. The question: Do we have what it takes to stand up—to rise to the occasion and to meet these challenges? What will it take to stand against the howling winds of change and the shifting sands of our own day? We’ll examine that in a moment.

Here’s the question. Do we have what it takes to rise to the challenges today? Do we have the ability to stand in the face of strong prevailing winds of change and cultural shift that threatens to undermine our culture and our civilization?
Beyond Today is primarily an English-speaking program going out to America, Canada, Australia and South Africa. It is translated into Spanish and it’s aired far and wide on cable television and the Internet. But our primary audience lives in the developed world. And the handwriting is on the wall for our people—and they don’t know it.
Life is pretty good for most. Americans enjoy the highest standard of living ever known. The poorest among us live like kings compared to the people in other parts of the developing world, we have it very good. And yet even in the midst of the world’s wealthiest period, we have pockets of people who lack the basics and in real cases suffer from poverty. Social and economic problems we face in America and others nations reflect some very real effects.
We see racial strife erupting in the major cities of America, which reflects deep-seated anger stemming from a social structure that is not balanced, nor frankly reflects the values of godly biblical teaching.
There is a reason for this. We have cut ourselves off from God. We have not wanted to keep God and His laws in the center of public life for many decades. It has been a steady erosion of biblical values and teachings for more than 50 years. If you want to understand the reason behind the major events of recent times, the breakdown in whole segments of society or the headlong rush into a moral meltdown then look no further than three key events shaped by the United States Supreme Court. America’s highest judicial body has issued landmark rulings in three areas that reflect the country’s decline in the eyes of the God of Heaven.
In the early 1960s the Supreme Court issued two rulings in the use of prayer and Bible readings in public schools. The first, the justices ruled that official prayer had no place in public education. The second a year later, the court declared school-sponsored Bible reading and the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer unconstitutional. Both rulings were highly controversial at the time. While the decisions did not rule neither for nor against personal expressions of faith, they were a part of a period of cultural change that continues to this day. Looking back at those rulings, it seems no one could foresee what lay ahead in America. It was a significant step away from certain moral foundations that held America together like no other force. The court was ruling on a matter of spiritual import for a nation blessed with a unique place in the world—a place made possible by the God of Heaven. For a government to dismantle prayer within the public life for its people is a major step toward removing God from all public life. Perhaps even worse, it is the admission that God is not primary in the life of the public!
The second, in 1973, the Supreme Court decided another significant landmark case: Roe v. Wade. This case legalized abortion in all 50 states of the union. It sanctioned the taking of an unborn life and labeled it a right guaranteed by the 14th amendment to the United States constitution. With this ruling, the Court entered the realm of judging when life within a mother’s womb is viable or not. Roe v. Wade set in motion a bitter public debate that continues to this day between those who lobby for a woman’s right versus those who support the sanctity of life which begins at conception. No other public issue has caused more division than this one. Since 1973, more than 55 million abortions have been legally performed in America alone.
It is inconceivable what this has meant to the loss of a quality of life in the land. But it has led to another appalling action. Aborted baby parts can be now used for other medical matters. This has led to the marketing, and the selling of the limbs and the organs of murdered children. Doctors and medical technicians have been shown on major news shows discussing the price of body parts laid out before them on medical trays. The thought and the sight of such scenes in America are appalling. Well might we ask, what has happened to our nation!? We are killing our souls and our spirit while living with such a morbid culture of death for so many decades. When a government does not protect its unborn life, it is deserving of the judgement of the God of life. That judgement is coming, and sooner than we might think.
The third ruling by the Supreme Court came in June 2015 with a ruling legalizing same sex marriage in all states. In this ruling the court made a sweeping interpretation that marriage for same-sex couples is again guaranteed by the Constitution. Let’s be plain about this highly charged social issue. The United States Supreme Court has stepped beyond its temporal bounds into the spiritual realm of the Kingdom of God. It has decreed that the divine institution of marriage as defined in the Bible as a sacred union between a man and a woman, and this is the only biblical definition of marriage, is superseded by the Supreme Court’s judgment. Human law now sanctions as marriage a relationship God never intended, the Bible specifically forbids and nature itself must reject as abnormal.
With these rulings, America has crossed a line that I have to wonder if it’s impossible to regain. We have gone from a ruling against prayer and Bible reading in public schools to sanctioning killing the unborn, to ruling against the biblical definition of marriage. In a little more than 50 years these decisions have taken us down a path of open public defiance of God in our most elemental parts of our life. We have done what those at the Tower of Babel did. We have erected a defiant tower of idolatry that says, we will not be ruled by this God, we will become gods unto ourselves. We have sown more than five decades of rebellion and today are reaping the whirlwind of death and confusion. We grope blindly trying to see our way forward not knowing that we are poor and blind and miserable and naked. We wait, wondering. Wondering when God will act with a fire of judgment upon us. It is a generation that has spewed venom into the body and soul of life.
I wonder, and I have to share this with you, just where God might be in His evaluation of our world and life among the nations today. God has to stand looking around and seeing the state of affairs and pausing in thought, wondering when to put a stop to this. I don’t know when that might occur but I do know that we must come to a place and the time in our lives when we must act to take ourselves away from this generation and turn toward God and change our ways.
I ask whether we are big enough for the challenge of our times. For you and me, the challenge is to turn away from this world and begin to live by the teachings of the world to come, the Kingdom of God. That in itself determines whether we can face the challenges with the only power that makes a real difference: God’s Holy Spirit and the teaching of the Kingdom of God.
Daniel in his day in Babylon stood for the Kingdom of God in the midst of the raging wars of the kingdoms of Babylon and Persia. For Daniel, the choice was clear. God’s Kingdom, the way and the truth he had known since a child, was true. The God he served was the one true God who lives, unlike the gods of stone and wood and silver and bronze that he saw in the temples of Babylon. For Daniel, the collapse of his own nation of Israel was done at the will of the hand of his God and served a greater purpose. The gods of Babylon were empty and worthless, unable to hear nor see and clearly unable to prevent the demise of Babylon.
Now is the time for you to be like Daniel—to read the handwriting on the wall of our time and seek to understand the will of the God of Heaven.

The king and lords and ladies of Babylon were not great enough for their times. Are we? Are you, up to the challenge of our times? Too many tread endless circles of mediocrity and accept shabby lies and fictions of today’s culture as truth. The result is we build our homes on shifting sands. When the winds of difficulty blow, they may not stand. It’s a very sobering thought.
The time is now to take action. The time is now to see the handwriting on the wall and rise to a higher calling and a higher way of life. The time is now to seek the God of Heaven and to live.
The handwriting is on the wall. Can you read what it says and move to change your life?

The Gay Agenda Coming to a School Near You

From http://el-paso.ucg.org/ or call 1-888-886-8632. Please follow this site here.

In 2007 a Massachusetts federal judge ruled that the gay agenda must be taught in public school, “ordering that it is reasonable, indeed there is an obligation, for public schools to teach young children to accept and endorse homosexuality” (Bob Unruh, “Judge Orders 'Gay' Agenda Taught to Christian Children,” WND.com, Feb. 24, 2007).
And it's happening: “An elementary school in Oakland, California, topped off its school year with a 'Pride Day' celebrating all types of families, including those in which the parents consider themselves to be lesbian, 'gay' bisexual, transgender or queer,” complete with indoctrinating lectures, videos and a sing-along (Leo Hohmann, “5-Year Olds Taught to Celebrate 'Queer Pride,” WND, June 16, 2014).
Again, it's not only in America. LifeSiteNews reports on Scotland: “While Scottish government draft guidelines currently allow teachers with moral objections to opt-out of certain aspects of the country's new sex-ed curriculum [such as teaching about gay marriage], several National Health Service boards have objected to the opt-out clause. They are also objecting to provisions allowing parents to opt their children out of the classes …
“Another NHS board warned against allowing parents too much influence over children, saying that the decision about whether to attend the classes should be left up to the students, even if their parents object” (Hilary White, “Teachers Cannot Opt Out of Teaching Gay 'Marriage' in School Sex-Ed Classes: Scottish NHS,” May 15, 2014, emphasis added throughout).
It's truly disturbing to read a recent report from the pro-family organization MassResistance titled “'GLBT' Teachers Conference in Boston Reveals Latest Plans to Push Homosexuality Even Further Into Schools. Well Organized, Fueled With Taxpayer Dollars” (May 13, 2014).
The report states: “GLSEN (Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network) is the nation's largest homosexual and transgender activist organization working inside schools in all 50 states. It has set up 'gay straight alliance' student clubs (GSAs) inside thousands of high schools (and even some middle schools) across the country.
GLSEN pushes a wide range of psychologically penetrating homosexual and transgender programs and activities into the schools … It also directly organizes and trains teachers to integrate their techniques throughout the curriculum …
“In 2000, the Boston-area GLSEN Conference gained national outrage when MassResistance (then known as Parents' Rights Coalition) exposed the sickening … workshop which involved adults teaching young kids explicit sex acts.”
In this workshop students as young as 12 were given graphic instruction in homosexual sex acts by state employees. The Massachusetts Legislature, along with several U.S. corporations, continues to support the organization.
Some of the 2014 conference workshops for training teachers, administrators and activist students included how to start a “gay-straight alliance” in middle schools (for students aged 10-14!) and “Queering the Classroom” to provide “a safe environment for GLBTQ youth” and “a more comfortable, creative environment for all students.”
For those concerned about their children, it's highly disturbing to see a picture of a sign behind conference speakers that proudly proclaims, GLSEN: Making a Difference in K-12 Schools.”
No doubt this has had an effect—along with all the other forces pushing young people to accept and embrace homosexuality. “As evidence of a major cultural shift … [one family advocate] pointed to a recent poll by the Pew Research Center indicating a full 70 percent of Millennials (born in 1981 or later) support same-sex marriage.
“By contrast, 49 percent of those in Generation X [born between the early 1960s and 1980], 38 percent of Baby Boomers [born between 1946 and the early 1960s] and just 21 percent from the Silent Generation [born between late 1920s and 1945] support homosexual marriage” (Chelsea Schilling, “Claim: Christians Sin By Putting Kids in Public School,” WND, May 17, 2014).
In the Fort Worth, Texas, area, when discussion in a ninth-grade German class shifted to religion and homosexuality, as it often did, 14-year-old Dakota Ary turned to a friend and said “that he was a Christian and that 'being a homosexual is wrong' … [whereupon] Dakota was sentenced to one day of in-school suspension and two days of full suspension” (Starnes, p. 122).
This was in a classroom where the teacher's “world wall” had a picture of two men kissing that offended some students. “He told the students this is happening all over the world and you need to accept the fact that homosexuality is just part of our culture now,” said Liberty Counsel attorney Matt Krause (Starnes, p. 123).
The superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools sought to evict a Baptist church renting space in one of their buildings because the congregation opposed homosexuality, stating that renting to those who hold such views “appears to be contrary to school board policy as well as the basic principles of humanity” and calling the eviction a “rejection of prejudice and intolerance” (quoted by Starnes, p. 81).
Students across Massachusetts were warned by a Department of Education directive to affirm transgender classmates. “And if little girls took issue with sharing a bathroom with a transgender boy [a boy claiming to be a girl], the state said those little girls could be punished” (p. 119).

    What's Behind the Gay Agenda?

From http://el-paso.ucg.org/ or call 1-888-886-8632. Please follow this site here.

In most civilizations traditional marriage is considered a fundamental institution and the backbone of a stable society.
Yet today we're seeing one of the greatest attempts at social reengineering in history in the fight to uproot the definition of marriage to include same-sex partners. It threatens the very foundation of the traditional family already battered by the prevalence of premarital sex, unmarried couples living together and rampant divorce.
As most of our Good News readers know, we view trends and events in culture and society through the prism of the Bible, the revealed Word of God. When societal changes run contrary to biblical revelation, it's necessary for us to keep our readers informed of influences that are detrimental to their future and that of their families. So what's going on? What's behind the gay agenda that's sweeping in this dramatic change?

    What is the gay agenda?

If you were to ask gay activists about their agenda, the vast majority would insist there is no such thing as a gay agenda. In fact, proponents instruct their followers that such terminology should be avoided. A good example can be found on the website of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) under “GLAAD Media Reference Guide—Offensive Terms to Avoid”:
“Offensive: 'gay agenda' or 'homosexual agenda'
“Preferred: Accurate descriptions of the issues …”
“Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people are motivated by many of the same hopes, concerns and desires as other everyday Americans …
“Notions of a so-called 'homosexual agenda' are rhetorical inventions of anti-gay extremists seeking to create a climate of fear by portraying the pursuit of equal opportunity for LGBT people as sinister …”
So while the gay activists clearly have an agenda, they want to hide that fact by replacing the word “agenda” with more euphemistic terms.
But is it really sinister to provide an honest evaluation of what is really taking place?  The fact is, there is a gay agenda. Simply put, it's an organized effort to produce political, social and religious change within society that will lead to tolerating—and eventually accepting as normal—homosexual relationships.

    Let's define our words

In this article, “gay” (or “lesbian,” if female) refers to one who is actively engaging in a homosexual lifestyle, indulging in sexual relationships and activity.
We are not using the word “gay” to refer to someone who merely has a homosexual attraction or leaning but does not act out on his or her temptations by engaging in sexual actions. This attraction or leaning is often labeled same-sex attraction, or SSA for short.
To understand the struggles of those with SSA who are sincerely trying to resist sexual temptations and who are trying to “be transformed” to follow “the perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2), please see “The Human Side of Homosexuality: From One Who Has Struggled “).

What drives the aggressiveness of the gay agenda?

Why is there is so much zeal—and at times militant rhetoric and actions—behind the gay agenda?
In part it's reactionary against the past. It's understandable that gays want to avoid persecution as severe as they once felt from some religious, social and political groups. They want to avoid this deeply painful treatment fraught with fear, isolation and ridicule.
Until recent years, many homosexuals felt publically scorned by some who view homosexual acts as the worst of sins—usually with little or no mercy shown.
But the apostle James points out that, spiritually speaking, if a person stumbles in one point of God's law, it's as if he is guilty of breaking all of it (James 2:10-11). And he warns that God will judge individuals as they judge others (James 2:13).
Another aspect, though, is that, as increasing numbers in society drift further from traditional values, they inevitably join ranks to push acceptance of them and their values by wider society. And the more gains they make, the more brazen they become in their efforts—even to the point of tearing down traditional values. The root of the problem, however, is ultimately spiritual, as we will later consider.

    Many organizations with specific plans

While not all homosexuals support the gay agenda or are actively involved in trying to redefine marriage, many gay organizations are involved, as Michael Brown points out in his 2011 book A Queer Thing Happened to America: And What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been.
As he documents, “There are well-funded, highly-motivated, sharply-focused gay activist organizations such as HRC [Human Rights Campaign] and NGLTF [National Gay and Lesbian Task Force] and PFLAG [Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays] and GLSEN [Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network] and GLAAD [Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation] and Lambda Legal—just to mention a few” (p. 40).
But, again, the activists would have us believe there's no such thing as a gay agenda!
Brown shows that many of these organizations have specific plans with targeted goals. These include creating visibility, increasing awareness and fostering community. To promote their agenda they utilize task forces, policy institutes, organizing and training programs and even an annual “Creating Change” conference (p. 37).
Later Brown categorizes some of the movements. “There is a gay revolution, a gay liberation movement, a plethora of gay activist organizations with clearly identified missions and goals, but no gay agenda … How can that be? …
“Ironically, when it comes to denying the existence of a gay agenda, there is 'immense unity' in the gay community. Why? It is because the denial of that agenda is part of the agenda … It must be a stealth agenda. Otherwise, its progress will be thwarted and its success greatly impeded, because the open, unambiguous, full disclosure of the goals and ramifications of the gay agenda would stop that agenda in its tracks” (pp. 42-43, emphasis added throughout).

    How far have they come?

It's the view of many that the impact the gay agenda is having on society is a bellwether indicator of just how far society has morally degenerated and where it's ultimately headed.
The Los Angeles Times summarizes the growing impact in an article titled, “Gays May Have the Fastest of All Civil Rights Movements” (May 20, 2012).
The article notes that “attitudes toward gays and lesbians have changed so much in just the last 10 years that, as Gallup reported last week, 'half or more now agree that being gay is morally acceptable, that gay relations ought to be legal and that gay or lesbian couples should have the right to legally marry.' (In 1996, when Gallup first asked about legalizing same-sex marriage, 68% of Americans were opposed).”
In about a generation we have seen society transformed from considering homosexuality to be a psychological disorder to the point that those who do not accept or affirm homosexuality are themselves called homophobic and viewed as mentally abnormal!
Homosexual behavior, once considered morally wrong and outlawed in many countries and U.S. states, is now largely immune from public condemnation or even public criticism. And in some countries those who do criticize it face fines and/or imprisonment!
The term “tolerance” is now employed to mean the complete acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) lifestyles and ideology—in the family, in the workplace, in education, in media and in religion. Those who do not accept this definition of “tolerance” are often labeled intolerant.
Today the term “diversity” means more than seeking women and minorities to join a company or organization. It often includes embracing homosexuality, LGBT behavior and showing solidarity with the gay agenda.
The gay agenda, along with the sexual revolution that began half a century ago, has transformed America's moral standard that was once based on biblical values to one that accepts as commonplace the homosexual lifestyle and many other biblically condemned behaviors.
Ironically, while gay activists demand tolerance toward themselves, they are quick to slam anyone who dares to disagree with them as intolerant, biased, bigoted or homophobic. In demanding their “rights,” they not only demand that everyone else recognize their self-proclaimed rights, but they actually strip away the freedoms and rights of those who disagree with them and who are standing up to their agenda.

    Growing support at many levels

This powerful political and cultural current is explosively impacting society. Due in part to the activists' hype and that of the media, most Americans think the size of the homosexual community is seven or eight times larger than it actually is. The title of the most recent Gallup poll on the subject explains: “U.S. Adults Estimate That 25% of Americans Are Gay or Lesbian” (Gallup.com, May 27, 2011).
The actual number, confirmed by surveys going back several decades, is 2 to 4 percent—admitted even by researchers supportive of the gay-rights movement.
In recent years the gay-rights movement has changed the target of its agenda. Thirty years ago gay activists made little effort to try to change the definition of marriage. But today this change is central to the gay agenda in most of the Western world.
And they have gained considerable political support. American President Barack Obama's policies have consistently favored the expansion of gay rights. On June 29, 2009, the 40th anniversary of what established gay pride month, Obama welcomed 300 gay activists to the White House, stating, “Welcome to your White House,” assuring them that their goals would be realized in his administration.
Another example is his pushing for the 2011 ending of restrictions on homosexuals serving openly in the U.S. military, a practice which had been in existence since the time of George Washington.
Last summer U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta went so far as to give a thank-you speech for homosexual, lesbian and bisexual military service members as part of the Pentagon's first-ever celebration of gay pride month.
Last spring Obama became the first sitting president to publicly declare support for the legalization of same-sex marriage. This was followed by the Democratic Platform Committee unanimously endorsing it for the 2012 presidential elections—a first for a major-party platform.
More than a year ago the Obama administration ordered the Justice Department to halt any legal defense for the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which was passed by Congress in 1996 to preserve marriage as a union between one man and one woman.
Since DOMA passed, 42 states have instituted their own support-of-marriage acts, defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. This helps ensure that children, the next generation of taxpayers, grow up in a stable family unit. So far, eight states have approved gay marriage by legislative or court-ordered action—though none by popular vote of citizens.

    Biological differences

Why is there so much sound and fury coming from so many quarters demanding a change to the definition of marriage?
One reason is that the gay agenda has successfully changed the public focus away from the fundamental biological difference between same-sex couples and heterosexual partners. They may be able to fool some people some of the time, but they cannot fool God. There is simply no way to magically erase the inherent biological differences.
Think about it! If everyone took up the homosexual lifestyle, populations would begin to rapidly dwindle and the human race would eventually die out. It should be evident to everyone that, barring some artificial outside assistance, biological procreation is only possible in heterosexual relationships.
God designed marriage to provide a husband and wife the opportunity to raise their own biological children in a caring, balanced family environment conducive for developing their children's personal identity (Genesis 1:28).
God “seeks godly offspring” and hates anything that undermines or destroys marriage because of the harm that creates (Malachi 2:14-16). The inherent contradiction between what God designed marriage relationships to be and same-sex marriage cannot be changed by altering the definition of marriage or carefully couching arguments to make alternative lifestyles seem more acceptable.

    How far will they go?

It appears that those pushing the gay agenda won't give up until the definition of marriage is changed in law and common language and their influence is felt in every aspect of society, as Brown documents:
“Children in elementary schools will be exposed to the rightness and complete normality of homosexuality, bisexuality, and transgender expression … Opposing views will be branded as dangerous and homophobic, to be silenced and excluded from the classroom. Middle schools, high schools, and colleges will go out of their way to encourage both the celebration of homosexuality and deep solidarity with gay activism” (p. 49).
In addition, Brown believes that pressure will build for American businesses to openly embrace every aspect of these biblically immoral practices to the point that employees who resist or refuse to follow suit will be dismissed.
Pastors and religious groups teaching that homosexual behavior is immoral will increasingly find themselves being accused of “hate speech.” In some countries ministers have already been convicted and fined for simply teaching the biblical truth on the subject.

    Lasting impressions on our children

When you realize where their agenda is headed, it's extremely disconcerting to see gay activists targeting younger and younger children—the most impressionable among us. American schools have become bastions of homosexual and transgender activism beginning as early as kindergarten.
Brown provides an example of the efforts of one homosexual advocacy organization over the past two decades: “This is the day of the 'queering of elementary educations' —to quote the title of a highly-praised book —and much of this is due to the influence of GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Educational Network (pp. 87-88).
GLSEN wants homosexuality and transgenderism completely normalized—and even encouraged, celebrated, and nurtured—in the educational system … Gay-inspired curricula and gay-affirming educational programs are now everywhere today” (p. 89).
In addition, GLSEN offers a comprehensive training program for teachers called GLSEN Lunchbox 2, which is designed for educators to use beginning at the kindergarten level. It comes with a training video, a 141-page trainer's manual, game cards with gay or transgender historical figures and terminology cards designed to teach a variety of sexual lifestyle alternatives.
It offers activities designed to subvert the family, including one titled “Deconstructing Definitions of Family.”  Brown summarizes, “In short, say goodbye to male and female, to masculinity and femininity, to 'biological sex,' and say hello to genderqueer, gender non-conforming, transgender, and transsexual” (p. 95).
In the United States GLSEN also sponsors the rapidly growing Gay Straight Alliances (GSAs) in middle schools, high school and college campuses. There are now more than 4,000 student clubs on campuses, and the number continues to grow rapidly.
These do far more than just provide a “safe place” for homosexual, bisexual and transgender students to hang out. They have become a springboard for pro-homosexual advocacy. They seek to alter curriculum and silence dissent. They push for the full acceptance of homosexuality in schools.
And they encourage children as young as 11 years old to declare themselves gay in GSA meetings, often without the knowledge of their parents.

    Civil rights cover-up

All these blatantly aggressive efforts are a direct assault on the God-designed family unit. And they are cleverly hidden under the banner of “equal opportunity” or “civil rights.”
Activists even guide the media in how they want their agenda positioned. The GLAAD Media Reference Guide, quoted earlier, points out the terms they expect to be used or not used:  “Offensive: 'special rights.' Preferred: 'equal rights' or 'equal protection.'”
But is the real motive behind their agenda simply to gain the same rights as others?
In most states gays already can gain most if not all the rights heterosexual marriage partners have by voluntarily entering into a private, informal domestic partnership agreement specifying their mutual obligations. And they can even hold private religious marriage ceremonies.
Likewise, nothing prohibits private companies from offering benefits to same-sex partners of their employees. In fact, the majority of Fortune 500 companies already do.
A deeper question is: Does it make logical sense to form a special class of people based purely on sexual orientation and then equate it to a race or ethnic group's push for civil rights?
There are at least three reasons that the two are not a legitimate comparison.
First, homosexuals (of both sexes), bisexuals and the transgendered are not all united by having the same sexual attractions—each subgroup is different.
Second, the black civil rights movement was united around those who had the same skin color, which does not change. On the other hand, the LGBT community was artificially linked together based solely on sexual orientations, which can change over time.
Third, there is no moral difference between being black or white (or yellow or red). But romantic attractions and sexual behavior often have moral (or immoral) qualities.

    The underlying moral issues

Society places way too much emphasis on sex, and gay activists are trying to convince everyone that you can have it your way, their way or any way.
One of the critically destructive forces behind this gay agenda is the idea that everything is malleable to accommodate changes in society. But no matter what the changing vagaries of fickle public opinion, God's principles of right and wrong do not change (see Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8).
God set certain natural laws in motion at creation that were designed to govern and support humanity's existence on earth. His Word tells us that sex was designed exclusively for only one relationship—that between a man and a woman in marriage.
Because homosexual activity, premarital sex and adultery are all outside of marriage, all are violations of God's instructions. These sins exact negative penalties, whether a person understands God's laws or not. And unless they are repented of, the ultimate consequence is death (Romans 6:23).
The Bible contains specific passages condemning both male and female homosexual behavior (Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 18:24-30; Romans 1:24-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9; 1 Timothy 1:9).
When it comes to sexual relations, the only two options affirmed for Christians are God-designed marriage or abstinence (no sexual relationships).
It can be a struggle for those who desire to leave the gay lifestyle (again, see “The Human Side of Homosexuality: From One Who Has Struggled “). And like other human temptations, it may be a battle they fight all their lives. But God knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations (2 Peter 2:9).
And it is encouraging to see there is clear biblical evidence that God can help change wrong behavior—including homosexuality and sodomy, as some of the Corinthian church members were able to do (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).

    Marriage cannot be redefined

In law and society, marriage touches every aspect of life from birth to death. Since God is the Creator of human beings and marriage, only He has the right to define what the marriage relationship should be.
Human beings were created with a deep need to bond to others. And there is no deeper bonding relationship among human beings than the one that can be achieved between a husband and wife. Eve was created so that Adam would not have to live alone (Genesis 2:18). The two were directed to be fruitful and multiply through the only physical union capable of producing new life (Genesis 1:28).
The institution of this marital union was one of the very first actions God took to establish the basic structure of human society (Genesis 2:24; Genesis 4-6; Ephesians 5:31). It is a natural union and a divine institution ordained of God.
Like no other institution, it can provide material and emotional support as well as a sense of safety and love for as long as both husband and wife are alive (Romans 7:2).
Our loving Father gave us the institution of marriage and the blessing of family so that we might learn to love one another as He loves us (Ephesians 5:25-33). Because of the importance of this divine institution, Jesus Christ stood up to those who wanted to adapt marriage to the changing whims of society and brought them back to God's original instructions regarding the sanctity of marriage (Mark 10:1-12).
Notice Christ's instructions: “But from the beginning of the creation, God 'made them male and female.' 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate” (Mark 10:6-9).

    Sign of the times

What this all adds up to is that the gay agenda has become one of the greatest attempts at social reengineering in history. The fight to uproot the definition of marriage to include same-sex partners is just one more social trend threatening to further undermine the very foundation of the family unit and the stability of society itself.
The sad reality is that our society is continuing headlong down the moral spiral prophesied for the end time before Jesus Christ's return (2 Timothy 3:1-7, 2 Timothy 3:13). God's Word says the family will continue to be under assault as we approach the end of this age.
Perhaps not so coincidentally, Jesus Christ compares the days leading up to His second coming to the destruction of Sodom in Lot's day (Luke 17:28-30). Thanks in part to the gay agenda, our society is headed in the same direction. Nearly all the people of Sodom had turned away from God's way of life (Genesis 18:16-22). There were not even 10 righteous people to be found in the city. The men of the city threatened to sexually violate the two angelic messengers God sent to warn Lot to leave before He destroyed the city (Genesis 19:1-29; Jude 7).
While Lot and his family were in some ways negatively influenced by the evils of the society around them, he is called “righteous Lot” (2 Peter 2:7). He felt tormented, oppressed and distressed by the immoral and degrading ways of those around him (2 Peter 2:7-8).
We must remain vigilantly on guard against letting a morally degenerating society pull us down with it—as Christ warned: “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12).
Thankfully, our loving and merciful Savior will return to heal the hearts and minds of all humanity (Isaiah 9:6-7). He will save mankind from complete depravity and self-destruction (Matthew 24:21-22). He will establish a healthy, wholesome and happy world. May God speed that day!
