The American Military: A Testing Ground for Social Change

Reportedly, many women soldiers during the Desert Storm operation had to be flown back to the United States for reasons of pregnancy, medical issues or lapses in discipline (even including prostitution). But it should also be said that the presence of women has occasioned sexual assaults by male soldiers.
One company commander in operation Desert Storm reported of his unit: “Nearly every female except two did not come close to finishing their tour of duty: Some got pregnant, some got mental issues; some had family problems at home they couldn't cope with.” During combat tours in which a substantial minority of the soldiers were women, some of these tours simply could not complete their prescribed missions.
Major General Patrick Brady, U.S. Army (retired), analyzed the negative impact of assigning women to combat units, tested on the ground during Desert Storm. He describes, from a commander's standpoint, what this will mean to morale and military readiness in the armed forces, stating: “[Today] we see a military with dismal leadership resulting in unprecedented rates of suicide, PTSD [Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder] and security breaches …
“Unimaginable in our past, we have leaders who consider awarding medals for not shooting … [Concerning women] here is what I found … In administrative jobs, they were at least equal to men. But most could not carry their load physically—loading litters in choppers [helicopters], carrying wounded to safety, even lifting tool chests. As a result the men covered for them, often causing us to use two people when one should have done the job—all of which affected readiness … My conclusion, which I passed to my division commander, at his request, was that I would not want females with me working the battlefield let alone in direct combat …
“I have said, and many men agree with me, that Adam's rib was the greatest investment in human history. Why? Because God then gave man woman, a different creature, who complemented him. God did it on purpose, and we are privileged to live with the differences. Feminists et al. get over it. It is not discrimination to accommodate God's design; it is acknowledging His will—it is wisdom” (“Women in Foxholes,” WND.com, Feb. 18, 2013).

Those who truly believe in the creation account generally accept the authority of the Bible. And many modern social changes are simply unacceptable from the standpoint of the Scriptures.

Does the Bible forbid women from wearing pants?



What does the biblical statute about a woman not wearing anything that pertains to a man mean today?


Answer: Deuteronomy:22:5 says: "A woman shall not wear anything that pertains to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman's garment, for all who do so are an abomination to the Lord your God." Like many of the statutes, this law had to do with pagan customs of the time, and as we will see, does not refer to women wearing pants. The Jamieson, Fausset and Brown Commentary explains:
"Disguises were assumed at certain times in pagan temples. Maimonides...mentions that a man attired in a coloured female dress, in honour of Venus, Ashtaroth, or Astarte, and a woman equipped in armour, worshipped at the shrine of the statue of Mars...
"Asiatics, when they engaged in the worship of Ashtaroth, were accustomed, according to Philocorus, quoted by Townley (in his edition of Maimonides, note 33), to exchange the male and female dresses. In fact, all idolators confounded the sexes of their deities—representing them sometimes as male, at other times as female; and hence, their worshippers, male and female, fell gradually into the custom, which became extensively prevalent, of changing their attire in adaptation to the sex of a particular divinity."
God's command to Israel forbade the people from incorporating pagan religious rites into true worship. In spite of this instruction, today's Christianity commonly mixes paganism in with the worship of Christ.
Does Deuteronomy:22:5 forbid women from wearing pants? No, it doesn't. In fact, even men in the Middle East through the history of the Old and New Testaments did not wear pants; they wore a robelike garment. However, there is an underlying principle that applies today. Men should dress in an appropriately masculine manner and women should dress in an appropriately feminine manner. Clothing manufacturers make pants designed for men and pants designed for women.

Many people say today’s Western culture is an unrelenting war on men. Is this true? Most often, yes. Here’s a word of advice to ladies: Don’t let yourselves get duped into carrying water for those pushing a feminist agenda. Take control of your life, and plan for your happiness.
Susan Patton, author of the book Marry Smart advocates that young women should begin looking for a man to marry while still in college. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Patton says they shouldn’t let the opportunity pass by thinking that “there will be plenty of time to marry and have children, but first my career!”
“Educated women, if you want children and a good husband you will need to plan your personal happiness in the same way you plan for your business and financial success” ( The Wall Street Journal “Opinion,” March 11, 2014). This is Patton’s advice to young women who are not ignoring their biological makeup and needs. Women, she says, are different than men and should reject any feminist agenda that says women can go it alone without a man. The feminist lie says a woman should not aspire to marriage and motherhood. Doing so betrays “the cause.” Feminism says to young women, “You need what we tell you that you need.”
Reviews of Patton’s book indicate her intended audience is getting the message and waking up. They should. Their biological clocks are ticking, and the number of eligible men decreases as their years go by. The feminist myth that a woman does not need a man has caused many women to waste a lot of years.
Ladies, know what you want in life and plan for it–early. We are created male and female not to compete, but to complement. God said in Genesis:2:24, “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” This is the way it was designed, and it works best when applied at the right time and in the right way.
